All eyes are now fixed on Enrico Letta, former prime minister of Italy, who will deliver his much-anticipated report in April on how to adapt the EU’s single market to a new age of geopolitical instability.
Here the digital economy is becoming indispensable as an engine of economic progress and a source of security. A key task for the EU after the parliamentary elections in June will be to turn Europe’s digital capabilities into a pillar of strength and innovation.
But how? Zach Meyers, assistant director of Centre for European Reform, presents a range of ideas in his report Helping Europe’s Digital Economy Take Off: An Agenda for the Next Commission, published February 2024.
